    Yes you can say its at par with google but the engine is related to chinese language only...

    google related to the whole world
    but baidu only related to china

    Your definition of better is not well laid out.

    If you have a website that is a Chinese language one, would you prefer to have better SERPs in - a Chinese SE like Baidu or Google (the proper answer here is both but you get the idea)?

    Who is your target audience and what Search Engine would they be using?

    What can you do to have these users see your website (SERPs and Ads) based on what sites they visit or Search Engine they use?

    Think of questions like that. That is how a webmaster should be thinking.

    baidu is mostly used in china only and 70% searches are related to movies/pron/mp3.

    Baidu is not for content mostly searching illegal chinese warez sites. seriously it sucks for other sites

    Well its mostly my experience and what my frds search on baidu most of the time. Its just my personal opinion. I didnt bother to check anywhere online if baidu is targetted to warez :D but i guess thats what chinese people think here.

    there are some regional searchengines in some countries with nation-wide coverage and more hits/day than google, but google is definitely going to overrun them sooner or later

    google search quality is DECREASING day by day. google has choose to focus on stupid thinks instead of search quality. they forget their main job

    i have started to use yahoo for searching as an internet user.
