    ~30% from direct hits (repeaters)

And the rest is from the other SE's and links and stuff.

Since the jagger update our site has been removed from the age filter. Now we receive the bulk of our traffic from Google.

Before SEO, I would get about 10 hits a moneht from Google.
Now I'm getting around 100 - 150 hits from Google, and my site is not even fully optimized and crawled yet.

I used to be number 8 on Google for my main search term and I stayed there through the first 2 Jagger updates but when the 3rd Jagger update came I dropped to number 24 for the same search term. The funny thing is my daily number of unique visitors a day have not gone down. I am now getting more visitors from MSN where I am number 5 and Yahoo. I guess there is life after Google!

Google, yahoo and msn search only accounts for 1% of my traffic. The rest comes from sites in my niche that list me in their links section.

Google provides most of my traffic, aside from all the people that already know about my site or follows links from other sites.

    Mine is a strange story.
I had very little traffic at the time and I came upon Yahoo Buzz and more spscifically the top ten searches relvant to UK users. On the top ten was the name Abbi Titmus and I deiced I would mention her in a post.
Suddenly traffic came in, which surprised me, because if her name is a top ten search one would think many sites had her mentioned.

I said to myself, well, it's not anything relevant to my site, but I should try to capitalise on it, so I posted a picture of her.
Now I started receiving a lot of Google images traffic.

Next I added a post sepicifcally to her -just pictures mind you- and titled it with all the possible spellings of her name.
More traffic. Of course I added proper alt tags, and as I learnt on this board I added jpg to the pic's file name, e.g abi_titmuss_jpg.jpg

Don't quite know if that helps, but it certainly wont hurt.

With that Abi experiment concluded, I now devote posts to celebrity women once in a while to supplement my regular articles on football.
As it stands I receive most of my traffic for Abi, Aishwarya Rai, and a female football supporter 'West Ham Lass'.

That's it, hope it helps someone to lure traffic to their sites. It may not work for many because this traffic is not targeted, but in my case it helps because the searches are done by English surfers and they are, invariably, football fans as well.
    Cheers.

Thanks so much for sharing your personal story of discovery with us. Sounds like you uncovered a new channel of traffic quite uninentionally, then made it an intentional success. That's also been my experience with creativity. It kinda happens at times totally unplanned. Up to us to then make the most of the opportunities.

This is sorta the experience I had when Google pulled the "Jag". I lost more than 71% of my total traffic. Seriously bad.... within 7-days I noticed my MSN traffic nearly doubled. Seriously good.... then after 30-days or so of Google scroogeling, about 80% of my Google SERP traffic started returnng but now I had double the MSN traffic and about a 20% increase in Yahoo! referrals. Moral of the story... It's ultimatey all working out to be a seriously Good thing... So I keep the faith...

I wish you're kind of discovery and success to all here...

    Google was until late Oct.
    Was about Google-45%, Yahoo-25%.
Now, with the recent changes at GG and Yahoo, MSN is in the lead.
Unfortunatly, MSN clicks don't seem to convert as well for my top sites.

Get most of my visitors from MSN, then Yahoo, and then Google. MSN in particular seems to be very kind to my site.

Not at all. I sell services and have been very busy and profitable, so I won't get antsy about this nutty up and down flux until the New Year. Then I'll be panicking or converting adsense profit into adword campaigns.

On my Optical Illusions Site, for my main keywords "optical illusions" I am

    MSN #1
    Yahoo #3
    Google #16

Just as Google was going to catch Yahoo as my top SE for traffic Yahoo shook things up and moved me up to the front page to #3.

Currently Yahoo is holding its own and keeping Google at bay. :D
