It has been a long time since I have used any of the free blogging sites out there but some of my students will be creating blogs for a final project and I'd like to offer them some good options. Anyone have a suggestion for something free and easy for the newbie? Thanks!
www.WordPress.com is excellent and a great example of good software. It's quite different from the released version of WordPress and very cool!
Avoid Xanga like the plague. It has free and paid options, I got auto-billed six months ago without warning. I'm positive I disabled it. I just got billed again, and they refuse to reverse the charges - yet I haven't used my Xanga blog for over a year. I think any reputable comapny has an obligation to email a warning prior to billing.
Does the place where you teach have web servers? You might be able to install wordpress on it and give each student an wordpress account to do their blogging. Or if you have your oen website, you could install wordpress and give them each a wordpress account. Just a thought
I'm not sure how you can justify the use of the word definately. It has serious flaws, including the inability to generate an RSS feed and that you don't control your intellectual property.
Couldnt be more accurate..3 minutes exactly . I just made my first blog hxxp://besttextforwards.blogspot.com/
The Two Wolves is gorgeous. I'm going to remember that for my kids. A great analogy. Don't forget to tweak your template
Hi, Really have a look at TheDiary.org. It's probably one of the most easy to use blogging sites, and your students would get quite some space to post pictures. Cheers, Ellen
SarahK, My blogger blogs all have RSS, right out of the box. Granted you can't directly alter them AFAIK.
