Link or Content - Which is the boss?

Hi DP members,

Today, after we had completed a training session with our new link team, one of the senior trainees informed them that we would be having a debate on the topic "Link or Content - Which is the boss?"

As we all know and have been hearing that content is the king and link is the secondary aspect as regards to SEO, what would you guys opine on this subject in the modern SEO era. Would you go only with quality content or would you concentrate mainly on link building.

Lets share our experiences through this platform.

The better your content, the less links you need for good rankings ...

 

Content is important for both search engines and users.
We do link building even on sites where we know we wont get any visitor, its just for search engines.
If your site don't have quality content and you have done lot of link building.
you will get visitors and they will leave your site from first page because of insufficient content. This will increase your bounce rate. And you can see your site going down in search engine rankings.

I would agree with everyone that content is #1 by far.

Because quality content can generate quality links automatically, but you can't get content from links. #2 is dependent on #1.

Both are same important, i have seen websites that get high rank with content and some that are based only on Flash that get high rank because links.

 

I like the chess analogy best, that pretty much pins it down perfectly.

 

As we say "Content is King and Link the Queen", the first thing my girl friend asked me was, "Who is their baby?" Anyone??

Conent of course. Google content can help you in getting relevent natural links which google loves.

 

Content is very important.. You should have content before you have links, or else your links are usless with out content

 

Content could be considered as our foundation for a site. Therefore, if you have a content-poor site, then you couldn't get quality backlinks. Content really matters

You've seen a lot of websites where the anchor text shows "click here" to redirect you to a particular page or another URL. So then, search for "click here" in Google. Guess which site comes out on top? Not one of those sites you've seen before being pointed to by "click here". It is one of the Adobe [dot] com pages that comes out on top. Now check if the keyphrase "click here" is in the page. Of course you won't find any. So what does that tell us? Link is the BOSS!

 

i think there is no boss between content and links .

your visitors will come to see your content but backlinks will bring them to your web site.

content and links are FRIENDS. not boss

 

Create a good content using your targeted keywords and get quality links with related sites. Links and content are both important so better improved them both.
