go to google hot trends, and make a blog onone of the top 100 terms they have listed there every day. If it is a blogger blog it will get indexed quickly, and get traffic quickly. Do this for as many terms as you wish, and watch the clicks add up
Yeah, a little sarcastic, but my point was that there are no really new ideas. However, there are ideas that many people won't try because it's not easy enough -- it takes too much work. Actually the one mentioned by the OP is one of them. Let's look at an example. Use Google's Adword (not Adsense) Keyword Tool. Type the word "car" in the keyword box. Click on "Get More Keywords." Make sure the "Keyword Search Volume" option is selected. You'll see many related keywords with last month's search volume and advertiser competition shown graphically. Notice that there a few keywords with decent search volume but little advertiser competition -- "spy video car", "car layouts", and "who killed the electric car" are examples. These might be good keywords to focus on. Let's look at "car layouts." Type "car layouts" in the keyword box, make sure the "Cost and Ad Position Estimates" option is selected. Type "50" in the "Max CPC" field, and click "Recalculate." You'll quickly see that the Estimated CPC is only $0.70, meaning that you and I probably will only get maybe $0.20 from Adsense. And the other variations only have an Estimated CPC of $0.05. Not very interesting. Let's look at another keyword, "car insurance." It has a high search volume, but has also very high advertiser competition. But looking at "Cost and Ad Position Estimates" we find that CPC is very high, meaning you and I get high-paying Adsense rates. The keyword "cheaper car insurance" is the highest at $36.93 with most others coming in in the $20-$30 range. So, your choice is to go for the low hanging fruit ("car layouts") and make a little money, or go after the more difficult "cheaper car insurance" for more money, if you can get the traffic against all the competition.
