SEOChat deleteing threads and banning highly respected members

Discussion in 'General Chat' started by faremax, Nov 18, 2005.

It was brought to our attention earlier today that SEOChat decided to use rel=nofollow tag for all sig links. Of course this started a storm of critisizm from all members. But the forum's management did not take the critisizm lightly and is continuing to delete threads regarding this matter and banning members including highly respected members of the SEO community. What a pathetic move on their part.

Well, it's great to have more seo help over here - the more the merrier. This is a great site with a great atmosphere. I hope though, that people don't stoop to their level and flood DP with seochat hate posts. At least keep it all in one thread.

Well I just went in and deleted my signature and homepage reference. Signature links can attract the wrong element anyway. Why have a no follow signature link? It gives spammers your URL and does you no good.

That's what crazy rob is here for..he is good at thread merger ;)

But Shanon thats not good to enforce such steps without informing or explaining to people.
Spammer can get your URL from other websites too where you've done a link exchange.
Whats the point to apply nofollow??

Oh I am not advocating the use of the no follow link. Just thought why leave signature over there for absolutely no benefit. SEO chat ran me off when they sold, put up all that advertising, and started spamming me with all their garbage. My move was just housecleaning. I have not darkened their door in months. The atmosphere is much more to my linking here.

What's ridiculous is that now Caputo's over there trying to convince his remaining members that he deleted posts because they were in the wrong location.

So I rejoined as a new member and posted in the right location...guess what...deleted and banned.

Not only ridiculous but also pathetic.

Does this mean we have a million "sandbox" threads to look forward to here? That was my least favoriate thing about SEO Chat - sandbox this, sandbox that. Bah.

Why an SEO forum would add no follows to signature links makes absolutely no sense.

    Seems highly ignorant to me.

There are some topics and areas where that kind of move would make sense.

I can give a full scoop on this and more. Basically, traffic for DevShed properties has been down about 45% since sometime at the beginning of the year. They made a lot of changes that didn't sit with the engines. Soo they are doing what they have to do to get it back up to snuff so to say.

Great, there will now be an mass join of people who only care and start threads about the rep system and signatures.

I have no idea why signatures would be so important. Spend a little more time hunting down good links, not posting all day to get signature links....

Just my thoughts. This will all blow over and everyone will forget just like when one of the boards started charging to post in the sale section of the board.

Links on this forum are great for getting a site spidered. I think zman said 24 hours one time, I got a new site spidered in 48 hours. Beyond that, I think they are useless.

I wish EGOL would start posting here, his are always good on SC.
