Need advice on problems with directory designer?

Discussion in 'Directories' started by mopguy, Sep 10, 2007.

    Hi,

I do not know I'm the only one encountering these problems but I have some problems with a designer I hired to convert a .psd into a working phpld template. He's quite reputable on DP and phpld forum.

All discussions before payment (50% deposit) were fine.

    Problems:
    1) I was promised 3 days to 1 week to receive the template but it has already been 13 days of wait and yet there is nothing.

    2) I managed to get hold on him on MSN on the 7th day asking about my project status and was told that it will be ready in 2 days' time.

    3) I have sent 2-3 emails asking about the progress of my project but without reply.

    4) I have left a pm to him on digitalpoint forum when he was online earlier today. I'm also quite sure that he has read my pm because his last activity which is few minutes after my pm to him shows that he's reading private message. But i still do not get any reply until now (6 hours later).

Has anyone else encountered problems like this before or am I nervous for nothing?

Can somebody also advise me on what I can do for this kinda situation? I'm fine with project delay but just cannot accept the lack of communication.

    Please help.

This is bad, sounds like he is trying to avoid you if he is not replying.

Ok I will give him a day or two before disclosing his DP ID or to file a dispute.

Meanwhile, I will send him another e-mail and hopefully I get a response.

    Thanks for all the advices.

I think the word QBC has been thrown around here enough already

bringing this thread out was more then enough as if he wants to ever work again hed best get in communication with his clients in a more timely manner (No Excuses)

Agreed after all means of communication have been attempted then the only other aternative is Paypal which after a few off those and your a dead duck.

    thx

QBC doesn't apply here. In the post it said a reputable member.
Please nobody ever use QBC on DP or any other forum, ever again.
    It's so fake "hype"

Why don't you ask for a refund and get a new template designer?

It seems that the project mostly likely will be affected by the lack of communication and with this thread there will be more issue to worry about.

We might need to assign the word "reputable" to other people that really deserve it. As you already stated the work has not been done within 7-13 days and no replies to your messages.

What else do you expect? What if the work he does for you is not to your expectation?

I disagree. Do not let your dispute become public. Trust me, I learned this lesson the hard way even though someone else made the decision to reveal details of a dispute.

mywebsearches gives good advice. Be patient and keep trying privately, if you can't resolve it just let it go. :)

I agreed that it's good to get a refund(if any) and get a new designer but there is no way for me to communicate with him if he's not responding to me.

I've used the word "reputable" because he's one of the recommended directory designers found in many threads here, with good reputation points and itrader ratings. He also has quite a few best template awards. In fact, there is really nothing bad I can find about his services on DP forum/phpld forum.

One reason for this thread is maybe to get his attention or rather good suggestions from you guys for a win-win situation between me and him (if possible). That's also why I didn't disclose his ID yet, hoping that he will provide me with good news soon.

If this can't be resolved amicably, then it can also serve as a warning for others. And I can proceed on to look for another designer.

Mopguy, please send me a PM with this guys Member Name. If this is who I think it is, it's the last straw. Many of us whom have dealt with this particular individual have held back for quite some time now and if it's them, it's time to let everyone know this person is not someone to deal with.

It is not an isolated incident and the community should be aware of this.
