    Advertising (learn more)

Advertise virtually anything here, with CPM banner ads, CPM email ads and CPC contextual links. You can target relevant areas of the site and show ads based on geographical location of the user if you wish.

Starts at just $1 per CPM or $0.10 per CPC.

So difficult?

Because you are in one of the three categories that advertisers are in.

A few months ago I got thousands from YPN, I still said it sucked.

that doesn't make sense. it's not like ads are a physical thing. if they have ads they are displaying on other sites - they can also display those ads on your site.

i think the thinking behind what they are doing is that they are trying to build a higher quality network so that advertisers will want to advertise on their network. that makes sense to a point, but i think google's more inclusive policy makes more money for everyone in the end.

    ---

I may be wrong though - It could just be incompetence like PoemofQuotes suggets.

the problem is that there are not enough advertisers, thus the links will not always be contextual leading to poor click through. If I have a specific niche site I want contextual links, but yahoo doesn't have the advertisers in my niche, google does, because it has so many advertisers...

I think they are very careful , and will let others like google and msn get "eaten by the alligators" before they jump in with both feet. Smart business practice.

How is Google getting 'eaten by the alligators'? They made a crap load of money last year from AdSense alone... and from what I have heard from advertisers is that MSN is coming along quite nicely. Ask is going to go public beta soon as well.

MSN does have a PPC program (adcenter). They just don't have publishers for it yet.

And yes, of course YPN is still in their 'testing mode'. They have been for 2 years.

This type of comment simply litters this forum. I find it useless and highly annoying. You just wasted 5 seconds that I will never get back.

In general the comments relative to advertising dollars drying up is simply innacurate. Classic media dollars like radio and television are getting killed as more and more companies figure out just how much more cost effective internet adverstising can be. Do some research, you'll find plenty of information.

You don't have to go any further than the some of the most recent blogs that have been purchased by big name companies simply for access to the traffic.
