I have access to a few thousand parked domains.

Hi guys, one of my clients went NUTS buying domain names a while back - literally spent about 70K on all sorts of names, all variations etc. I'm trying to think of the best way to monetize them before they expire. I have a few ideas, however before diving into the first 100 or so I'd love to hear all your opinions on what you would do with these. Landing pages per domain? Forward them or configure the server to point them to other sites?LP's I own? I have no clue what to do next, but i KNOW there is money there...

    Thank you all.

I'd probably park them first to see what sort of traffic they are generating...

You could park them if they get any traffic, you could try sell the good ones, you could put some basic articles on them with advertisements, etc. :)

Sedo, Google, Yahoo and Searchfeed have domain parking services. That may be an option.

I'm only planning on taking the top 100 for now, and am thinking i could monetize better on my own than with park options by third parties. I have a colo package/offer hosting so yes idealy i would create article pages/mfa/forwards/affiliate LP's, etc. as it costs me zip but my time... Just wondering if anyone else has had any success with a similar scenario, and the best route I should take instead of tons of trial/error trying all formats...?

    1000's eh?

I know everyones going to tell you not to... but put proxies on them, list them on proxy.org and let the traffic roll in.

Hmmm, interesting technique. Can you elaborate pls? Why 'not to' and what the advantages are vs. disadvantages? And yes, when he brought over a printout of 143 pages of domains I didn't believe it, but I logged into godaddy and there is over 2000 domains, crazy! Upon close inspection i noticed he wasted a lot of money buying 4-5 suffixes for every chosen domain, but his thinking was good incase any did take off - Wondering if I should hire offshore and get a team of 50+ to pump out 1000 sites :p THAT would monetize, but i don't think i'll be doing that... Anyway thank you all kindly and more tips please!!

well first your probably going to need more than one server for all those domains if you are putting proxies on them.

aDVANtages: Quick traffic, and because they will be new sites the cpc will be higher than with older proxy sites.

Very little work. Just put em on proxy.org

You are not going to make that much from proxies. You'd most likely make more with place a domain parking feed on them. On proxy pages you can't place Google. On domain parked sites you can.

I hope your not talking about the main proxy homepage right? Just the proxified pages?

It has been becoming harder and harder to get proxy sites accepted into networks. With all of those sites, it would be easier and faster to just implement the XML feeds. But experiment with both and see which does better.

All domains forward to one index.html or make a free page in blogger.com for it and put Google analytics code then check how many visitors coming there

If there is any traffic or have been online in some form over the past you may be able to spin them to others such as Marchex for a premium?

If they have been owned but not online in any way to generate traffic, you may either have to let them expire if there is no traffic (test) or if you want to invest you can try building it up from scratch by using one of the domain-parking services sedo, etc.

Thank you all. I think I will take a third to parked/sedo types of sites, a third will get developed into small one page content/mfa/LP sites, and a third will either get proxied or simply point to existing pages/blogs/etc.

Again thanks everyone, I'll give you all an update in a month or so when I can analyze some data/stats. **NO domains have ever been published, hosted or put up in any way yet so I have work ahead of me :(
