I am planning some marketing for the last quarter. I noticed the ad by Express Bulk here on DP. Has anyone used them before? What was the success? What was the "spam" factor? This would be my first attempt venturing into e-mail marketing. I do not want it to be considered spam. The goal of the campaign is to gain active members and increased activity.
Awesome question, I was wondering the same thing. I saw the EB ad myself, clicked through to the site, and the prices look pretty decent. I would also love to hear some percentages....
Insightful KNEB indeed. Not insightful to the point of the thread, mind you, but definitely insightful.
Ugly ad... but it grabbed my attention since I have been thinking about trying a mass mailing myself. Looking for some insight into them before I start shelling out any money. Or any suggestions on other companies out there. thanks
I am a mailer. I would be happy to answer anyones questions. Feel free to ask away. In order for your email and it -not be- considered SPAM: accurate "from line" accurate "subject line" accurate "content" a mailing address for people to unsubscribe and opt-out of any future mailings and a link for people to goto and opt-out as well You would then save all the email address's that "opt-out" and you would create a supression list. Next time you send mail - the people that have opt-out will not receive any mail. All you would need to do is save the email address in a note book file and give it to the person that is mailing for you.
Email marketing us the least effective-one-time advertising method...I used it before but of no gain..
Because it has one disadvantage that now users think of any marleting mail as SPAM and email sites have securities as well and Junk is usually deleted Cheers anyway
Just to give everyone an update. I heard back from them. 4.9Mil emails are going to get dropped over a 7 day window. I talked to an ad firm and they said expect a 1% CTR. I am giving away an Xbox 360 Elite so I hope its higher than that.
Well they say they are CAN-SPAM compliant. All of the emails they have are in an opt-in list so....We'll see. This may be the shortest site I built in history.
I guess an opinion from the other side of the fence is warranted, I have been in the opt in email business for about 7 years now, there are a lot of legitimate mailers out there making lots and lots of money, its a different business then natural, but one worth looking at. if you post what your promoting I maybe can help, if its a clear offer with an action for the visitor to take, its likely a good thing to test. Email does have its advantages though, for example in a lead scenario, where you want to collect information from the visitor, an email generated visit will perform 2 to 5 times better then a search generated visit.
I am promoting an automotive fourm site. I have about 5 gigs of desktop automotive photos, +600 cars listings, an automotive Wiki, an online map and events calendar.
::Update:: My server just blew up, in a good way. I will post stats later in the day. I may have to send out emails in waves more often.
Good job Guess a free Xbox produces better than that 1%... which is 10x higher than what I heard was the average from banner clicks. I figured email campaigns must work... or else we wouldn't get so much spam. Somebody has to be turning a profit by selling those enlargement pills.
Very true. I work at a marketing company and the average is around 1% just for people to click your ad that you send in an email. I went outside just to see what happends and because the company I work for does tech only. 1% of 4.9mil still = 49k getting to your site.
