I am in the process of building a site with quite a few components. Video, a store, news...etc. The majority of it is under construction, design is finished, but is currently being applied to the site. The site has a good few weeks before it will be able to be launched entirely. I have a couple good news stories ready to go in the blog. Do I link the blog, do some social networking now with some of the stories I have, or wait until the site launches?
If i were you wait until your 110% satisfied with it :0) Otherwise youll get visitors visiting but that wont stay because of something that might be under construction.. You only have a few seconds to impress them once they get to your site and could be the difference between them leaving or bookmarking! Best of luck with it!
I agree. If you plan to do link building for SEO, you could start it before you are 100% finished, but don't advertise to visitors before your site is ready.
I wouldnt start adverting, but I would start getting backlinks. That way when you do go a launch there will already be links to your site and as you launch go for more and more backlinks to rank higher in SERPs.
keep in mind most people would not give you a link even if you pay them if you have a bunch of under construction pages
