I am just new on webmaster area and just set-up a forum for my area, how do you manage to gain an amount of registered and active members
I think you need to start forum that is in some niche, because starting webmaster general forum many webmaster will pass it as there are quite many forums here. What you can try doing is gathering few active people, who can ask their friends, partners, etc. to join forum and discuss. When you will have some discussions, make advertising and visitors can join if topics are interesting for them.
What is your niche? I'd suggest that you spread the word first and keep your forums active (post frequently) at all times.
Not a good idea. This kind of advertising shouldn't be use in my opinion. Not only does it make the webmaster of the other forums angry, but you also get a bad rep in general. And Ill be damned if the work you do to pm all these people gets you a proportional amount of members at your forum. Not worth the time, hassle, results, or reputation.
good post on forum will surely increase your members..you may try a link to your forum on other forums signatures. Pm's will not help at all..as said above...
This isn't a good idea You could get banned if Admin found out. people don't like you pm them and ask to register your board.
Exactly,but when how do u suggest to promote your site otherwise ?The best way i think is to PM and sometimes to invite directly in the forum.Ban is not problem for me,i ve got plenty of IPs + i can use proxys as well
pm other members, i think is not good, based on the suggestions of other members. The area where my forum lies is on electronics testing
