I just got into affiliate marketing for a site that previously had only adsense. I'm impressed so far ($17 a week as opposed to 54c - yes I know both are terrible) However - at the moment I'm pushing 5 separate affiliate programs on the one site. That's partly a reflection of wanting to maximise coverage/types of products offered - but also because I wanted to mix affiliate programs that people seem to buy more from with those that pay out more. I guess I just wanted to know if there was any strong arguments against the practice. In particular wondering if it would be better to push one program consistently across the site? Dylan
There is no problem with running multiple programs. As the matter of fact, from your perspective it may be advantagous to test different programs and they see which peform best and narrow it down to the best performing 1-3 programs in each industry/category. We do it too.
I would promote the best performing site the most. Place it first then next best one and so on. The best performing site is the one with most sales. If you make 5 sales for $5 each instead of one sale for $40 i would make the one with more sales top program. Most of the time you will make more sales and more money. Some high paying programs make some sales but over the long run you should make more with one that makes the most sales. Just make sure they relate to topic on your site.
I always suggest my subafilliates to DO that, because with multi-products from different companies, you can get more trust from people, they see "product reviews", etc. P.S.: Then still give the one with best conversion to no.1 Enjoy and great success! -Ashty
I honestly do not think there is any problem with multiple affiliate programs on a single site. I myself have a few being promoted. As long as the programs are all related in some way, shape, or form that fits the topic of your site, why not? You can always drop the ones that aren't doing too well or impairing performance.
I would recommend for people to push a few affiliate programs at a time as you can test which one performs the best and look into other things while learn more at the same time. The main thing that you must not do is go over board and monetize your website with hundreds of affiliate programs unless you are some sort of affiliate network. lol
