    Hi!

    I never used meta content, language and others...

    Should I use it ? Google look at those metas? How it's going to help me ?

    Thanks!
    Guy.

    I would use it just to be safe. it doesn't mean that google will use it, but for general search engine goodness, it's a wise idea to load as much as you need in the meta fields.

    I noticed that google uses the description @ my site.
    Does anyone know how the author tag is used in search?

    Not really - by doing that, what you're doing is increasing the amount of redundant crap the spider has to wade through to find your content - and a lot of it is totally useless.

    Not at all by regular search engines, AFAIK.

    The ONLY required tag is <TITLE>.

    Recommended tags are:

    1. a valid DOCTYPE declaration
    2. <meta name="description" content="
    3. <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1252">
    4. <meta http-equiv="Content-Language" content="en-us">
    5. <meta NAME="keywords" content=" (mostly ignored but may be used by some directories)

    I also set a rating for the content, some directories/SEs use that for rating which can come in useful.

    Go to http://www.icra.org and http://www.classify.org and answer the questions - they'll give you a code that looks something like:

    <meta http-equiv="pics-label"
    content="(pics-1.1 &quot;http://www.icra.org/ratingsv02.html&quot; l gen true for &quot;http://www.psychlinks.ca&quot; r (cz 1 lz 1 nz 1 oz 1 vz 1) &quot;http://www.ICRA.org/ratingsv01.html&quot; l gen true for &quot;http://www.psychlinks.ca&quot; r (n 0 s 0 v 0 l 0))">
    <meta http-equiv="pics-label"
    content="(PICS-1.1 &quot;http://www.classify.org/safesurf/&quot; l gen true for &quot;http://www.psychlinks.ca&quot; r (SS~~000 1 SS~~002 3 SS~~003 3))" />
    Code (markup):
