I want to give something away (weekly) to encourage users to check out my free video bookmarking service. I was thinking about an ipod shuffle. What else could I giveaway that cost between $50 - $150??? M
From my personal experience iPod has a large community so that could be a good giveaway, but not things a cheap ipod shuffle. Do a litle search on shopping sites, auction websites like ebays and try to see what people really want and build your giveaway from there.
body organs always brings in the right clientel. lol seriously though. iPod shuffle is great if you have the funds. Also, "random" or "mystery" prizes of a certain worth tend to pull in big crowds.
It depends on your audience because they determine what is interesting to me. For me, I wouldn't be interested in iPod or something like that. Probably because I have one and don't listen to it any more Age is a factor.

The nly problem with that is not everyone has an HDTV to put the cable to use. I would recommend iTunes or Amazon GCs or maybe an iPod Nano.
Unless your website is really established, I'd recommend an Amazon GC or a payment from Paypal or something.
are u giving away prizes when people comes to your site and use your services or are u giving away prizes when people bookmark a good video? The reason I'm asking this is because you will see there's a different in motives and intention. And with different motives and intention, you will create a different impression in the mind of your visitors. if you giving away prizes just because you want people to come to your site, then you are giving the impression to your visitors that you need them to come to your site. If you give away prizes because you want people to bookmark good stuff to your site, then you would be building a brand name of quality bookmarking at your site. Over time, your site would have good quality that naturally attract visitors. The first option does not help you to provide more value for your visitors.
Sorry guys for being late on replying back, I forgot to turn on the email notification. I really like the Amazon GC idea, you cannot go wrong there! How about either a Amazon GC or a Newegg GC (for the geeks). The terms of the contest will require the user to bookmark at least one video clip. Maybe i will give a $50 GC every week or month. I do not have too much cash, b/c this is self funded, but you have spend money to make it. As for audience, I a would like to focus on the college student crowd. They are big on social sites.
