Yahoo reincluding my site

Discussion in 'Yahoo' started by glengall1, Aug 27, 2007.

About three years ago I noticed Yahoo was only indexing my homepage.

I contacted them and I got back the basic, your banned e-mail.

I have been embarking on a full redesign for the site, including things that Yahoo probably didn't like and I was going to ask for re inclusion when I had finished.

Imagine my surprise that after nearly four years actually they have started to reindex my site the way it was without me ever asking.

    Strange but good.

Any idea what you did to get them to "ban" your site?

It was all to do with RSS feeds and things that I had used to build my site. I also was stupid enough (at that time didn't know any better) to use programmes like Traffic Hurricane and the like. Yahoo hate that and they also dislike alot of affiliate links on the site.

Funny that. I was just reading about Traffic Hurricane did not read fully into it but it says you won't get banned by search engines.

I am not saying that it was that program (in case of legal challenge ;)) but I used it and it didn't work at all. The pages are crap and don't lead to anything substantial. Google's algorithm is far too smart for these things nowadays IMO.

I was looking for the e-mail from Yahoo but I can't find it anywhere.

You did say yahoo hates that. I assumed you meant this program so that would be yahoos case. Seems you where sucked into a program that just doesn't deliver.

I think it is a case of both really. From the Yahoo guidelines:

    What Yahoo! Considers Unwanted:

Some, but not all, examples of the more common types of content that Yahoo! does not want include:

    * Pages that harm accuracy, diversity or relevance of search results
    * Pages dedicated to directing the user to another page (doorway pages)
    * Multiple sites or pages offering substantially the same content
    * Pages that rely heavily on content or links to content created for another web site, such as affiliate content
    * Sites with numerous, unnecessary virtual hostnames
    * Pages in great quantity, automatically generated or of little value (cookie-cutter pages)
    * Pages using methods to artificially inflate search engine ranking
    * The use of text or links hidden from the user
    * Pages that give the search engine different content than what the end user sees (cloaking)
    * Sites cross-linked excessively with other sites to inflate a site's apparent popularity (link schemes)
    * Pages built primarily for the search engines or pages with excessive or irrelevant keywords
    * Misuse or inaccurate use of competitor or brand names
    * Sites that use excessive pop-ups, install malware (i.e. spyware, viruses, trojans), or interfering with user navigation
    * Pages that seem deceptive, fraudulent, or provide a poor user experience

I have highlighted a few that I think that these types of programs create.

Just my 2 cents worth of course.

Are there other linking softwares that Yahoo doesn't like?

I am NOT saying it doesn't like Traffic Hurricane. I can't say that for sure in any way. I can not prove it doesn't so therefore I can't say it. ;)

All I was trying to do is point out what is on Yahoo's own site that they say they don't like. I personally used several of these types of programs and none of them worked for me.

It appears there is no real substitutes for hard work and creating content rich unique pages is a must. Some of these programs may give you a boost to begin with but in my opinion this is short lived and the only way to get constant high good long term rankings is to do it yourself.
