Backlink Tracker Skipping URLs

Discussion in 'Keyword Tracker' started by swoop, Nov 5, 2005.

The Backlink Tracker seems to be skipping over some of my URLs on Google. For every site with zero backlinks it shows a Last Check of Oct. 24, and for every site with one or more backlinks it shows today's date for Last Check.

I have a lot of links to check, over 600 keywords and over 150 backlinks, but even after I deleted some URLs from the keywords and reduced depth from 50 to 40 the problem did not go away.

Are others seeing this problem?

I haven't seen anything, I show stuff with zero backlinks as today? What if you click on one of them to manually look it up? Does it give you an error?

The message when I click on one is:
The request returned the following error:
    Google gave no results

They (the URLs with zero backlinks) are all still stuck on Oct. 24.

Are you using the advanced usage script?

I believe so, and I noticed this evening that I installed a new script on Oct. 24...the same date that the problem began. It's possible that I accidentally deleted and re-installed the old script instead of the new one on that day.

So, this evening I've re-installed the advanced script (slightly over 8200 bytes long, depending upon file name). I'll check it tomorrow when I get another allocation of 1000 queries.

Try looking up a single one (with the script URL removed from your settings) and see if you still get the error. Could at least cut out if it's the script or not that way.

I removed the script URL and manual check worked. Then I re-inserted the script URL and got the same error message.

Back link checks work fine on websites that have back links, but don't on those that have no backlinks...at least, the "last date checked" does not increment.

Well if it works when you don't use the advanced usage script, it has to be something specific to the server you are running it on. Have you tried running it on a different server?

I went back to an older version of the script and the problem is resolved. Thank you for creating this excellent tool! :)
