I just ranked with an article with PR0 against other sites with PR4 and 6 and 5,5 million pages competition, which I find really cool. I am ranked #3 now. My question is, can be #1, and how could I accomplish that?
So maybe I can that tips using for the next article.

    It's here http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q="affiliate+marketing+plan"&btnG=Google+Search

Sounds like new site bump. Wait a few days and see how site is doing. Google lists new sites high for a few days.

Well written Article, I think being part of Ezine (PR6) helped with the positioning on G, of your article for those keywords :)

Who cares about PR it doesn't mean anything, forget PR, forget PR, forget PR. Did I say to forget PR.

I agree it could be a temp bump, but the reality is if I have 100,000 sites linking to me with "Your Site Sucks" and you have 10 sites linking to you with "Key Word Here" my PR could be 8 and yours 0 and you'd probably rank better then me.

Having your article on a trusted domain gives it a significant advantage. It's true that Google gives a bump to new sites, but in this case it's just the single page that's new so that doesn't really apply.

Trusted domains are what it's all about when it comes to ranking easily.

Well, I see the new blog my friend last week and her targeted keyword is at number 41 already of Google search engine. It surprised me because its only a week ago since she created her blog.

I have to agree that the eZine PR6 helped you a lot.

Plus, the search query is not very popular (#3 out of 873). Get to the first position for affiliate marketing (around 2 mil pages) or for some topic that can be found in 100 mil pages and than you can call it a BIG HIT!

    Regards

My Article has PR0. So it has no advantage from the high PR.

The competition is only 900 for the quoted phrase. But people normally type the words without quotes, there it has 5,5 million competition.

Take off the quotes, and your not number #1 :p

I don't see why people do it with quotes, because no one searches with them often.

OK, maybe you have a really nice content there, so people click and read it.

Monitor your rank in the next couple of weeks and you will see how powerful your writing was.

Exactly, the only time I search with quotes is when I'm looking up a specific error message

Just wondering, does Google consider pagerank when listing results?

For example, whenever they do the pagerank update, will my pr 0 site get more organic traffic right away if it goes to, let's say, pr4?

PR has nothing to do with your rankings. Just continue your link building to rank well in SERP.

    I do not agree.

PR has to do with SERP. The higher the PR will eventually get you higher SERP and vice versa.

They are interconnected in many aspects and that is both exist.

I agree with hersheys. PR is nothing to do with SERP. Some people very obsess with PR. But for me I'm still focusing on SERP not the PR.

PR and SERPS are not related in the way most people think.

Lots of links to your site= High PR
Lots of links to your site= Good SERPS

    The key is backlinks.

Backlinks drive both PR and SERPS

(Now, of course, on page seo helps too, but backlinks are the most important part)

Still not totally true, anchor text is the key to high SERP's. Google and other such PR 9&10 domains rank nowhere on 98% of my search terms.

I beat DigitalPoint on alot of terms, yet it kills me in numbers of backlinks and PR.
