    Hello;
I am new on SEO, and would like to have an idea how to start,
Well I have been searching in Google and Yahoo for how to find a good tutorial on building your webpage based on, and I have read some, but so far could not come up with keywords.
What ever I search for is highly competitive, and I have read that brand new page is better not to start with highly competitive keywords.
May be the way I start to find keywords is wrong.
What do you people suggest to read, a good tutorial or website perhaps.

What tools are good to use, I have seen lots of them around but I would like some help to see which one is good , I don’t want to buy all to see which one is good.
Here is the list I found on web some I already downloaded couple of them that has trial version, but not sure which one is better, because it take times to see the work and until that time the trial is finished.
Here is what I have found:
    ad word analyzer,
    adwords&keywords,
    best promotion keyword,
    bid reporter profesional,
    click track's analyzer,
    golden keywords,
    good keywords,
    key extractor
    keyword analyzer,
    keyword live,
    keyword spider,
    keyword wizard,
    search term suggestion,
    the dowser,
    web trends analysis series
    NicheFinder

    Thank you for your help

I think you should also visit few seo forums like searchengineforums, com, seochat.com, highranking.com that can update you with recent reviews and some development in seo field as well.

    OK, I have another question,
I used the Keyword Suggestion Tool from digitalpoint, the data given is the number of times searched a keyword per daily.

1- is this data from past month/s or live?
2- how do you messure this data? 800/day, 100/day high ? low?

for beginner who want to build a web page from start, and find couple of keywords, not highly competitve, how do you choose your keywords with these kind of data?

    Thanks

    1. I think the data coming from the KST is a recent (monthly) data from wordtracker and overture.

    2. The data is measured by how many unique searches a certain keyword/phrase gets in a day on an average. i.e. 800/day = 800 searches in a day.

For example, you're site is about SEO services and Web Development, you could input those keyphrases into the Suggestion Tool and then you could use the less competitive (but still searched for) alternative keyphrases to be your site's targetted keywords.

but be sure to use the keyphrases that are still related to your site.

I put up a free SEO tutorial on my site.

This covers the main points, and if you need more details and/or examples you can download the free ebook I've listed on thesame page. It was written by Brad Callen who sells SEO Elite software. He does push the software a bit in the book, but he more than covers the basics. I've tested quite a few seo software packages. I like SEO Elite and WEB CEO the best. I've seen Arelis mentioned quite a few times as favorite as well, although I did not personally like it.

You DO NOT have to buy software to be successful in optimizing a site.

Some other free tools you can use...

    1. The Digital Point Keyword Tracker
    2. The Digital Point Keyword Suggestion Tool
    3. McDar Google Keyword Analysis Tool

The stats shown via Wordtracker and Overture are really just a guide. It's not exact. It' also hard to tell what's competitive just by looking at the amount of search results returned per keyword. I look at a lot of elements when gauging how hard/long it might be to optimize for a keyword. What I would suggest is look at the big picture and develop content that covers a broad topic that can be narrowed down to smaller niche keywords. That way as you're working on optimizing for less competitive terms, you're still also optimizing for your primary target.

Start digging the the board archives and you'll find a wealth of detailed information and shared experiences that's hard to cover in a book. Once you've launched your site you can also post it in the Review section and ask for input.

    Good luck!
    :)

I don't share "ImNed"'s view that SEO is a farce.

I do believe that it is spiralling out of control.

Each day NOT spent investing and developing one's website, sends it backwards into oblivion, and consigns it to obscurity. Where will it all end? Take a look at where it is heading.

    Is this your meaning?

You can also go for search engine marketing as Search engine marketing is also known as internet marketing as well as SEM, which helps you in increasing visibility in internet.
