Way To Allow Comments On A Website? (Isn't A Blog)

    Hi there,

I've got a website which I would like to enable comments on - like some kind of a comment box. Is this sort of thing possible? I would like it because it would improve user-experience and search engine optimization on the website.

Also, I found a program - http://www.cbox.ws/ - would something like this get picked up by the search engines? (People can post messages that appear on the Cbox on the site).

    Thanks for any help :)
    Matt

Rather use a free alternative if there is one :)

    Also this isn't a blog - it's just a normal website.

I'd suggest 2 different ways you could this-
    either through jotform.com -
there is an option to make the submissions public,

    or else a tag board, i.e tag-board.com

I realise its good to keep it looking active/alive etc, but I'm wondering if the search engines will pick up the comments/messages in the Shoutbox/Cbox? Will it have the same SEO advantages as having comments (like on a blog)?

    Thanks :)

It isn't a blog. If you had read the post you would have seen that.

I use a customer feedback for comments on a real site rather than a blog. It doesn't have a box for the front but I use Old Guy Scripts cause it is free. The support from him is great even although it is free.

    Thanks glengall1, reps given :)

Does anyone know if the Shoutbox would get picked up by search engines - with the comments being seen as new content?

Your more than welcome. Unfortunately I don't know about this one. The one I use does but I haven't a clue about Shoutbox. I don't see why not though.

Ah right okay, thanks for the help again.

If anyone that has a Shoutbox or knows whether search engines pick up the comments posted on these on a website, please let me know! :)

    Thanks

I just took a look and it looks like the comments on shoutbox are picked by the Search Engines

Hire a PHP programmer for a a bit or do it yourself if you know PHP. The code really isn't too complicated, I made one for my site a few months ago. Its worked very very well for us, we have around 80 pages of comments cached now.

    Thanks for the replies again.

I would link to the blog with the comments but I don't think search engines would pick this up.

I would also use PHP but I don't think this is allowed by my web host :(

I will go ahead with the Shoutbox for now, thanks for the replies and help.

Agreed. Just use a simple database and comment form. if you start on another system it would be very hard to import the comments to a new system in future.

If your host won't allow it get a new host.:)
