Not only knowing how much traffic you will get from a keyword but also what type of audience will that keyword give you - will the traffic that you get from that keyword converts (assuming your selling something on your site or want your traffic to take action)? The SEO efforts are wasted if you don't get any traffic from that keyword or even if you do they don't convert.
