So what is the best way to check keyword popularity?

I've found overture extremely irrelevant and wrong, but id there anything else?

Thanks, did you try keyworddiscovery.com? They usually show more results, but I'm not sure if they are more accurate..

I use the Keyword Suggestion tool at
    http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/suggestion/
    along with NicheBOT at http://www.nichebot.com/
I find the keyword suggestion tool tells me what people are searching for from Wordtracker and Overture, then I go to Nichebot, and see what kind of competition there is for the keywords. Then I pick the keywords with low competition from other sites similar to mine, and start building a webpage around it.

    cheers

I find running Adwords compaigns for a week or two to be the very best way to gauge popularity...

If you're referring to the nichbot.com results, yes, those are the number of searches on Google

    Disclaimer time!
I should say, apparently, these are the number of searches in Google, because it is not my keywords research software, and I cannot prove how good the software is. I have only recently been using the nichbot keywords guide, so time will tell how good the results are (although with the many times the search engines re-index my sites, this should not take too long)

Has anyone else had any results from their keywords research and implementation of your keywords into your sites?

    cheers
    dave
