I think you mean Core 2 Duo which is a dual core processing chip.

The processor is an Intel product not Microsoft.

Yeah, they are the same thing, one is just a brand name. The Intel Core 2 Duo is better than the Intel Core Duo and the Core 2 Quad smokes both of them. Generally, the more cores the better processing power a chip has, as it can handle multiple tasks at one time.

Yes it does support... Core2Duo, Core2Quad... up, up and away. Down comes the stupid Dual Core.

Core2Duo has 2 cores not 2 CPUs, but the Dual Core has 2 CPUs not 2 Cores which is less efficient :p

The Intel Core 2 Duo has 2 processor cores on 1 chip. It is a dual core processor and Windows views it as two separate processors.

Dual core is a generic term for any processor with two cores. Some dual core processors are the AMD X2 dual core, the Pentium D, and the Core 2 Duo. By far the best dual core processor for desktop and notebook use is the Core 2 Duo.

Dual processor refers to two physical processors. They are common in servers.
You can also have a dual processor server with dual core CPUs. For instance, you can get a dual core system with Core2Quad CPUs, which would give you eight processor cores!

    core 2 duo = 64bit
    dual core - 32 bit.

That is one of the differences between them.

This means that core 2 duo should be better.

Where are you getting your information?

All dual core CPUs except the Core Duo that I know of support both 32-bit and 64-bit. And besides that, 64-bit's adoption has been slow. These dual core CPUs all support 64-bit:
    Core 2 Duo
    Pentium D
    Athlon X2
Xeon (older models are not dual core)
Opteron (older models are not dual core)
    Turion X2
    Athlon 64 X2

I am almost scared to use my new computer.

My Core 2 Quad has so much juice that every time I click the mouse it throws me back in my seat!

I mean it's nice and all but my neck is really starting to hurt.

Well right now Intel's Core 2 Duo processors are a bit better than any of the other dual-core processors floating around.

For example, the Pentium D processor is a dual-core chip. It's a great chip don't get me wrong, especially for its price (it's for people on the budget), but compared to some dual-core AMD or Core 2 Duo chips, it's outperformed.

If you're going with AMD, at the minimum get an AMD 64 x2 6000+ chip. I'd stick with Intel's Core 2 Duo though, since they're a lot easier to overclock.

Core Duo is amazing. The new chips Intel just released left the best AMD had in the dust. On top of that, they're usually cheaper.
