So, I Quit My Job.

It's kinda funny. I've been wanting to do this forever. The link in my sig shows me talking about it almost a year ago, and I finally did it.

The fun part is that I don't have any money saved up. Awesome.

Anyway, I've got another paycheck coming from my day job, and probably around $1200 in affiliate commissions in at the end of the month, and that's the only income I've got.

I've decided to sell hosting to get me by for now. I have to abandon my PPC campaigns temporarily, which sucks, but I don't have any money to put into them.

I think I'll do pretty well with the hosting. But, if I don't, it'll still be fun to give it a shot. It's scary, not a lot of security, but I'm also extremely motivated to make some money right now, so it's fun.

Any other ideas on making some quick money online? PPC isn't an option right now, unfortunately. The plan is for PPC to be my bread and butter soon.

    Anyone have a similar experience?

    Wish me luck.

I tried hosting and it didn't work out well. It's a tough market. Good luck!

It's easy. Just do what I did. "I quit."

And then scramble around the internet trying to scrape up money for PPC over the next week. It's a formula for success, lol.

To be honest, I'm 2 days in so far, and have already made more money than I would have from being stuck at work all day. So it's a start.

I've got some "sneaky" ways of selling hosting.

My target market is definitely not the DP crowd. Think the "I'm not sure what web hosting is but I want a website" crowd.

They're out there if you know where to find them.

Thanks for the encouraging words guys. Just to give you a better idea of what I'm dealing with, 25, no kids, only bills are for rent, which I have covered, and food, which I'm working on at the moment...

But I figured what the hell right, it's as good of time as any, and I'm not getting any younger here.

I quit my day job a few months back. I must admit, it has been pretty nice not commuting to work every day. Plus I still help out remotely with my old job on some projects once and a while for some side cash. It is nice to catch up with them and hear about all the office politics and crap going on... and then sit back in my home office and tune it all out... =)

I must admit you worried me with the bit about not saving any cash or really having much of a game plan... but then mentioned your age and your situation... and I guess it is not that scary when you are only 25 and have no mortgage and kids and high-health care.

So good for you... can't hurt to try it out... see where it goes. You are young enough that you can bounce back and find something else in the real world if you need to... maybe even something part time to help make ends meet.

Just remember to work hard and work on things you are passionate about... and you will find success.

    Good luck!

    Congrats on quitting your job

I remember reading in Think and Grow Rich that one of the surest ways to force yourself to meet your goals is to burn your bridges!

It may be scary to begin with but I'm sure that In four years time you'll be earning more than any job would have paid you

Godd luck and keep us posted.

Agreed. Make it do or die and you most often do.

When you say "try" you just made an excuse :D

If anything, having quit is now forcing you to be successful, or, well, you die of not eating :D

Congrats on quitting your job and best of luck staying afloat on things. After I had my baby, I thought I would quit too and stay at home, but ends did not meet and I had to go back to work. The next time I quit, it will be for good.

I'm envious. You are doing it at the right time. Once you get a family, a house, and all of the other life obligations, it is HARDER to pull the trigger.
