This morning the keyword tracker is tracking more than 1,000,000 active keywords (not even counting ones that were deleted). That seems like a lot.
I'm glad my 100 tracked keywords have made a small (er, very small) contribution to your new milestone But I am curious on your thoughts Shawn: What impact do you think DP and other keyword trackers are having on the accuracy of keyword counters such as WordTracker, WebCEO and the Yahoo/Overture Keyword Suggestion Tool when it comes to measuring the actual number of searches by Internet users versus those by webmasters trying to determine their positioning? How much would you discount the reported numbers to arrive at an accurate daily or monthly keyword count? Enquiring minds ...
Wouldn't 1,000,000 keyword searches a day for positioning skew the counts for those keywords, particularly if you add the many other keyword trackers? I've heard people say they knock off as much as 20% now to get a more realistic picture of the actual keyword searches by users versus webmasters?
The queries are done through the Google/Yahoo API, which don't count towards those values. Only if it was doing it via screen-scraping (which it's not) would it count.
