with the increasing number of scammers around the forum in the few past days i think it will be better to close registrations for few weeks or make fixed time to open it (3 days monthly or something) to make it less easier for scammers to get in and for those who get banned to create another account in few minutes

just a suggestion that may work to make the place cleaner and safer

Why not just close down the Buy/Sell/Trade section?

    Problem solved. ;)

Closing ? :D how about making it for people with +100 posts or some limit

I'm sure something should be done about it - some limit must take place

I also think DP is big and known enough to all the experienced webmasters so new members must start in reading and learning rather than buying and selling

they must get some knowledge before they are able to buy something

also i hate it when i see someone who registered today and offering something for sale

more to be a scam rather than a genuine sale

I don't claim that all new users are scammer (we all were new users someday ) but it's just the common sense for them to learn before they participate in trades

Just because you have low morals does not mean you don't have the patience to wait a few extra days to register or post a few comments in general chat before posting in BST...

how about we just hand out a free cup of common sense to everyone?
that should help them do their homework and get scammed less.
god there is one with 35 posts and 0 itrader wanting $1,000 for a site. you gonna risk that on a newbie?

drink your cup of common sense

well, for such deals If i'm the seller I ask to get paid with western Union or bank transfer (I got paid 350$ from someone who had 0 posts and 0 iTrader via western union ) so not all the newbies are scammers

But if I'm the buyer, I won't pay someone who doesn't have good number of posts and quality iTrader points (not link exchange and forum posting ones)

but some people are just desperate and waste money so easy so they can't blame anyone but themselves ;)

OMG , why you think that the member who join now or tomorrow will be a total n00b ?
Maybe they can be smarter than you
They can be great contributer to the community.

and how can you see someone registered today and offer something to sale ?
    (14 days rule)

why would you or anyone have problem if a new comer establish his/her biz in DP..

Btw,Ever tried to check the statistics ?
    http://forums.digitalpoint.com/faq.php?faq=dp_faq#faq_statistics
According to that,DP had a big drop in activity..
    ---------
This is not the way to stop scammers btw..
