By what to replace PageRank?

It was a current of persons who looking for change the PageRank by a better thing.

But What, what was better than PR.

    tree good thing to replace.

    1. Alexa: Rank the top 100 website by visitors

    2. The Quality Rank : Rank the quality of all sites made by webmasters

    3. The Trust-Rank : the other algorithm of Google, based on trust

    ------

PS : One other thing more could be my tool : rank all sites with the Average PageRank (calculated with the 30 more visible URL)
But, that not solve all problems of the PR.

Remember one thing - every system can be tweaked and cheated. The most valuable ones are attacked more often. If Alexa (for example) would be more important for people than PR, they would improve their rankings and then devaluate it far easier than Google's PR.

Alexa is complete crap. Why anyone would think its level of measure is relevant is beyond me.

I have an idea... why don't we start using TRAFFIC as a meter instead of PageRank. No?

The only way to get a replacement for a PR is something which is based on a spider collecting all links in the world and calculate something similar to the PR.

It's just because webmasters need a value for the effect of a link on a specific page on the Google SERPs.

Any other metric (based on traffic or anything else than links) cannot replace the PR because it would not be useful as kind of "link-currency".

The way Google do it, with all limitations, is best so far.
Alexa is no comparison for Google.

Google have no comparison in most of it's program, however I would vote for using traffic/traffic sources/returning visitor to be used as a meter.

Nah.., that tool uses Alexa rank, Pagerank and domain age to calculate the page strength. Not too reliable...

And what relevance does that have to this thread? ;)

Anyways if they do take out PR Google will probably think of something else, they can't just leave us hangin'.

google algo is based on page rank system

but i think it's not the same with toolbar page rank.

Traffic is always the best metric by which to measure - good PageRank, Alexa Rank, et al. are merely byproducts of a good site. :)

PR is PR, nothing can replace it. But a new tool would come into being.
