I received a click on an ad, but no money from the click, why?

Discussion in 'AdSense' started by melbel, Aug 19, 2007.

I received a click on an ad but there were no earnings from the click. I usually earn a fair amount so it couldn't be from an ad that was worth so little that it earned me seemingly nothing.

Anyone know what could cause this?

It may have been an invalid click, or just a lousy payout. Don't worry about it unless it keeps up over the next few days.

I agree with you, but does Public Services Ads count as clicks when they get clicked ?

How do you know you got a click? Do you mean your stats indicated a click, but no money, or did some third-party tracker indicate a click, but nothing showed up in Google stats?

You look at your google adsense stats, it says there was a click however there was no monetizing on it.

Okay, I guess that only works if you can hit your stats at a time when there's only one click on that particular channel.

Could it be because of CPM ads?

Invalid Click. It Happens. Or it might be referal advt. which need user to add some details to count it as a valid click.

Probably not, those don't show up as clicks but derive their value from the impressions. Well, now that I think about it, you may be right...what happens if you click on a "CPM" ad? You get a miniscule amount from each impression that is made on your site, but do you get anything more if someone actually clicks on it?

That's why I asked how he knew it was invalid. If it was reported by google, then yes, but if he had some third-party software that told him there was a click, and google did not register it, then there in fact may not have even been a click, just a misread by the software.

Whoho. besides adpubster and Senserely it seems no one really understand how adsense works :D

    1) could be a CPM ad- Get counted as clicks but dont pay
    2) A possible invalid click (not surely like someone said lol)
    3) PSA ads- Get counted as clicks but dont pay
    4) Just slow stats- Sometimes it happens but very occassions.
