What Directory Script are You Using and Why?

Just curious what script everyone is using and why?

I've used Site-Sift and PHPLD. Personally I prefer PHPLD as I like the admin panel, forum support(HERE), long list of custom mods to differentiate yourself and the fact that if you don't want to get a custom skin immediately there are plenty of great free ones to give your directory a great look from the start.

There is only one for me and that is the phpLD 3.2 paid version!! I have never been hacked, it is very hard for someone to spam, and the SEO makeup in the coding is unbelievable!!

I am up to 28 directories now and I love every one of them!!

We have phpLD by choice but there is only the core script left as we modified it so much, but therein lies the strength & flexibility of phpLD the ability to bespoke it for your own unique Directory

Scripts like this do not come around that often with so much versatility and of course the script has secured a solid wide user base :)

The Templates & Mods that are available from many sources for phpLD are superb :)

Yep Pete pretty much said it all, phpld is the leader of the pack IMO. They do have some challenges ahead but they are staying pretty sharp.

Btw, this same thread is started almost every week (I think there was even one yesterday) I am suprised it was started again by an experienced member.

I choose PHPld for the mod developers that one can easily find for the script and for the support at the forums

    phpLd rocks all the way!
    1. the source is open, easy to customize.
    2. Loads of free templates around for initial setup,
    3. g8 support from existing users,... in addition to help from core phpLD support!
    4. an array of mods available, pick and choose and make your directory unique!

...did i miss something out :)

    Regards,
    M.

PHPLD because it was the first one I knew about, it has lots of mods, support, skins etc. available. I only regret paying $10 for the forum support.

    I wrote my own code...

Sure for the first few days I got PMs with "I got a database error"... or something, until the code bugs are worked out...

    But now:
I know the code, so I can easily work with it in the future
I know that mine is atleast a little unique (even though the layout's the same)
I didn't pay a dime for the code
The admin panel is setup just how I like it, easier to use then any of the free ones
I can do a tad of windows application design (if i wanted) and make a nicer admin interface in visual basic making life even easier
I added in features to my directory that I wanted (like a link limit per category)
I'm sure theres more reasons, but that's all for now
