    Hi Everyone,

I was wondering what the best strategy would be for referral links.

I want to offer a referral program on a site I am building to where a webmaster will put a link to my site with a query string like mysite.com/?referral=userid and they will get commissioned for the sale. (the id will be saved sitewide with PHP sessions)

My question is, in regards to building links: should I do a 301 redirect to the homepage to get rid of the query string (?referral=userid) or should I leave it?

The thing I am concerned about is how will the search engines index it?

Will they list the query string with the 301?

I'd hate to get sales from organic traffic and have to pay the webmaster...

    What are your thoughts?

i think you must use 301 redirect for your incoming links.

mysite.com/?referral=userid must be redirected with 301 to your home page

I would concur with the 301 redirect for incoming.
