Article depot is my fav, not bcos yfs is a member here, but its the easiest to submit articles to by miles!

Since I'm responding to this thread I felt I should mention that I am looking for any travel / holiday / vacation related articles, which can include images, and link back to up to 3 websites (providing there related to the article)

I believe in submitting to the "big boys," of course, but also believe one can get significant additional benefit by targeting some of the better-performing "little guys," too. One does risk getting lost in the shuffle at sites with tons of submissions.

It's also a good idea to search out as many niche-specific sites accepting article submissions as you can. This is especially true when your articles are not very common (read: business, marketing, promotion, etc.) article topics.

And, as a shameless plug, I will mention that Monkeyads will do the submission for you if you find the process a wee bit tedious...

Here's my current plan (although subject to change) Write quality articles, hand submit to quality sites (my favs have already been touted here) and check your stats to see how your submissions are faring (this helps determine which sites I'll use again and again). Write more articles rather than concentrating on submitting to every possible ezine article site.

    Why not do this:

    1. Write an article.
    2. Submit to the sites you feel are a must.
    3. As time permits in the future, submit the article to other websites.

There is no law that says you must submit your article to all sites right away. :D

Keep a log and make it a goal to submit an article to at least X places daily.

So then what are the top 5 to 10 article sites?
    Is there a definitive list?

    I know that:

    1. ezinearticles.com
    2. goarticles.com

have to be in that top 5 to 10 list.

    Maybe I'm missing something...

I have been writing some finance related articles and posting them to my blog. Now I would like to add these articles to some of the submission sites, but I don't want them to get "credit" for having this content. Is it a rule of thumb to wait until the SEs have cached the content on your site before submitting it?

Or am I way off and should be submitting different articles than the ones I post on my blog?

I think that doesn t matter if people want to copy your articles, then you most likely can't do nothing about it...

But don't you get "penalized" for not having original content? Or, more specific, being the originator of content?

I have not had much luck with the email groups/announcement lists. It is easy to get flooded by articles from other authors that also want their articles picked up.

I have good experience with the sites/directories. The high PR ones gives the most valuable backlinks in terms of PR. They also give the most traffic because of their visitor numbers. Of course you have to submit an article that is of interest to many, and not just a narrow niche. Submit high quality and interesting articles and you will get many visitors.
