    Hi,

Not sure if this is the right place to ask but here goes anyway.

Can someone please tell me how to disable hotlinking in PHPproxy through PHP (i.e altering index.php).

I know there is an option, i.e. allowhotlinking=0/1 but this is not effective and can be bypassed.

I ask because my host has throttled my bandwidth which is on target to reach 1.2TB this month.

Also I have heard that if disable search bots using robots.txt then you can save bandwidth and copyright/malware issues. If I disable all bots will this mess up adsense on my Proxy homepage?

    Any help would be appreciated.

If i dont remember wrong you can block some site like this in .htaccess:
(the 404 line is another thing, it will send all 404 visitors to the home page, very usefull)

    RewriteEngine on
    # Options +FollowSymlinks
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} megarotic\.com [NC]
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} megaupload\.com
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} depositfiles\.com
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} fury-tech\.com
    RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} rapidcat\.us
    RewriteRule .* - [F]

    ErrorDocument 404 http://www.proxyhustle.com

    Thanks for your reply.

So using the above, am I correct in thinking that you make a 'RewriteCond' line for sites that offer big downloads. And if so how do you manage to find them all. Wouldn't you fighting a losing battle?

I found them in the last visitors stats. This was the big sinners in my system so I won that battle :)

If you take all the 100000 proxies that are available thats above the avarage, but is it good enough ? Thats another story he he.

Did you find that cutting out the 'big sinners' reduced bandwidth usgae considerably?

Yes, it cut it to 1/4.
Check your latest visitors for sinners.

    Hi Messa,

I have been through this thread and cannot seem to find the code you are referring to. Any chance you point me in the right direction. :)

I think phproxy0.5b2 has hotlinking protection built-in...isn't it?

    Thats right

But hotlibk protection don't work by many proxy webmasters, i don't know why. I have no problems, hotlink protection works well for me.

Anyone having good luck with popups? I'm thinking about putting some up, especially on the proxified pages, but I was wondering if it was worth it considering some will be turned away. I think maybe the adsense on the front page and adbrite cpm banner on proxified pages would be the best but I'm not sure.

Also, is anyone still using zelune? I'm not really sure how well it works now with disabling hotlinking and other functions. The new beta of PHPProxy seems pretty solid.

I have read that Zelune is a stolen code of another script and everyone is spreading a copy (sometimes edited)

I didn't try it myself but I see some of my clients having trouble with it because they can't control bandwidth limits using it

I think php proxy rules so far for less load and bandwidth control

I would be using PHPProxy but I already edited the home.php design in dreamweaver very nicely for zelune. I'm wondering if there would be an easy way to transfer that design over to PHPProxy, but I noticed that PHPProxy uses a CSS file so I'm not sure.
