Ebay Affiliate Program Can I bid on EBAY keywords?

Discussion in 'Commission Junction' started by AspDotNetGuy, Oct 25, 2005.

Hi I read that I can not bid on the word eBay and some of their other word in google adsense and yahoo and what not. Could I bid on something like "Selling on Ebay" or "Buying on Ebay" or can it not have the word eBay at all?

    Thanks,

    AspDotNetGuy

No, it cannot have eBay (or any misspelling or any other eBay trademark). For example you can't even bid on "Half" because they own the trademark.

    Nice short response :)

    Good for you...

You liek the new payment model better so far or no? Just crurious as I have no grounds to compare as my web site is new.

I did see you had a few exciting sales.

You can't, but I have noticed a number of people doing it regardless. Type "register ebay" into google and you'll find no fewer than 4 sites that have likely bid on 'register ebay' and are using CJ (you can tell by th URLs):
www.ebay.com (the URL bounces you off CJ)
    www.auction-registration.net
    www.cashflix.com
    www.123trackerzone.com

I *doubt* that all of these are sanctioned by Ebay to bid on these keywords. Some pages that used to be there are now gone though. So I believe it *is* enforced, but there's a lag as there usually is with most enforcement.
