"site listing" in SERP??

Why is it that certain websites have a collection of links underneath their URL when searched for? For instance, search for "microsoft" and Microsoft.com will be the first result, with 5 sub links for other major parts of the site. How can I get my site to show up with sub links for "about us", "forums", etc? I have an XML sitemap, but I guess that has nothing to do with it. This is one of those search engine things I never understood.

The sites that have those little authority links are chosen by the Goggle algorithm
