How do I find out how many hits my competitors get?

I am new to this and was wondering how I can find out if my com[petitors have lost traffic etc.. How do I look at there log files ???

 

there is no way to look at their log files and I don't know of any way to accurately figure what their traffic is. The closest thing is overture/wordtracker which tells you how many times a particular keyword is searched for per day/month

 

Not always true, I've seen sloppy webmasters. E.g. Me a few years ago, I found that Google had indexed all my stats for a sites, forgot to password protect the directory and add to robotxt.txt.

Try going to the domain, and looking in sub-directories such as stat stats etc.

 

You can look at the Alexa rankings, but they aren't very reliable.

 

Get your "friend" to use some of that hidden code you used to hide your google ads, and then have your "friend" sneak into your competitor's data center, insert the code and voila!

www.hitwise.com will tell you some amazing information about where your competitors get their traffic and how many hits they get.

The data is purchased from the ISP's - the only downside is the price they charge.........

It is worth getting a free demo though - the info is like looking at a really good stats program but for any site you want!

 

I've found Ouija boards more informational and accurate.

I would seriously try to figure how much you get, assume all traffic comes from Search Engines and figure your position and their position and take a rough mathematical guess.

Or back to the Ouija Board.
