I agree. I'm sick of poorly-substantiated claims being regularly tossed around.

Also, there seems to be mixed evidence when linking physical agression or anti-social behaviour to high levels of testosterone. See below:

High levels of test can increase agression, but that can also be a good thing ;)

Since it's impossible to get rid of it, what's the point of discussing whether or not we should get rid of it???

It's here. We got it. Deal with it. (Heck, why not just enjoy it??!) ;)

    But then they're grumpy.

Do you really want a world of slumpy old men who could do nothing but snore 24/7?

While chemical castration is possible and IMO an acceptable punishment for a sex offender, The idea of doing this to the whole male population because they may rape, kill, murder or start a war is a little extreme to say the least..

I am of course a male so i could be a little bias..
Anyway i'm with buffy on this one ENJOY IT..

Can you imagine the demand for batteries.. :D

First testosterone is responsible for protein deposition in muscles. Hence, when you eat more protien the body releases the hormone which packs the protein into the muscle. At the same time the hormone carries out it's other functions such as increased aggression and sex drive.

If you eat less protein and take testosterone lowering medicine, and yes they are available, you can take the hormone level down to virtually none. The only thing is that you wouldn't be all muscular and stuff but it would solve all the problems mentioned earlier.

By the way Gray's Anatomy has to do with anatomy while this discussion is centered around physiology. Perhaps you meant Guyton? Or maybe Ganong? Take your pick.

the only anatomy that is in Grey's Anatomy is McDreamy's anatomy.

Would you count watching House as giving me authority on this topic?

That scares the shit out of me that a fourth year med student would have this idiotic thinking ;)

It would NOT solve all the problems, nor would it simply make people less muscular. Thank god you have not graduated yet.

Really, GRIM the testosterone has fried your brain cells. Not only have you confirmed my statement by your immature, and untrue statement you have once again shown how horrible testosterone is.

By the way go take a crash course to find out what testosterone is instead of using wiki for your information. YES IT DOES MAKE YOU MUSCULAR. And lack of it MAKE YOU LESS MUSCULAR Even my nephew knows that. And he is in 12th grade. Did you even do high school?

lol, test does help muscle growth, it does a lot more than that as well. Do some reading and you'll find it pretty quickly, hell one google search.

There is more to test than 'muscle' the way you talk I doubt you ever paid attention in 'med' school.

    edit

BTW look at what I typed!

As in their are other bad things that could and would happen from the male populace having no test in their systems!

See that is the problem with you. You use google for your information and I rely on my medical studies. And yet you choose to argue with me. Google vs Medical School? Dude, really lower your testosterone so that you can begin thinking.

Look at females. They much less testosterone than us and they seem to be functioning just fine. The primary function of testosterone is protein deposition. But there are other hormones that help with that. So doing away with testosterone or at least reducing it to very low levels will not kill you but will help solve many problems.

Aged people think smarter, have more patience, don't get physically aggressive, don't have loads of kids and yet they functioning perfectly well. So why not?

Yeah studies, reports, college professors. Glad you know more than all of them ;)

Did I say I relied on google?

If you think the only bad thing of lowered test is losing muscle, wow pay attention in school a bit more.

If you trully think all gangs, rapes, murders would stop I have a bridge to sell you.

BTW I suppose you know more about it than my Doctor of whom I have discussed this very issue with?
