Like the title says, the Business.com IP is used by 29 other sites, so basically they couldn’t care less about SEO. Or know something we don't know :)

Don’t know if the private IP and SEO is a myth or not, but the way i see it, having a private IP brings perceived value to clients, same way a nice custom skin.

Its a myth for if it wasn't all sites on a shared server would be screwed from the word go.

I don't see why having a dedicated IP looks better than a shared. Exposure and traffic is what matters.

May be that are just trying to prove a point that "Dedicated IP" is not "necessary" for SEO and a successful directory business.

My guess is that they own other websites, and also some redirected domains to business.com, and they are using the same server for all the websites.

So I guess they owned all of those sites.
Nice to know a giant site like that also using shared IP.

If you go through big corporatives and enterprises most of them use either shared IP, frames, tables layouts and meta keywords and descriptions. Examples can range from Microsoft Developers Network, The New York Times and Digital Point Solutions.

Yeah, check the source code of the main home page, which by the way is pretty rustic, but ranks high, www.digitalpoint.com

From my point of view, webmasters spend more time developing browser compliant websites, SEO content and tracking search engines, that devoted to do business like business.com or DP does.

hey must be having some reason for that..

and it doesnt necessarily have to be like shared IP, at times, i myself noticed that when i am on a Shared IP tho it shows only 1 site hosted on x.x.x.x IP
