Can .us domains be successful in the SERPS as easily as any other domain?

Any TLD extension can rank as well as any other. TLD extension isn't a factor.

How am i supposed to know what search terms have a .us domain in the top 3 results? Theres one, For a highly competitive phrase (120,000,000 results).
If .com, .net, .org or any other TLD is better for SEO don't you think one of those would have been #1 for a search phrase that returns 120 million results?

Even if .com had an SEO benefit over .us, I'm sure it wouldn't outweigh many millions of backlinks. ;)

Then go register a .com. You asked people if .us could rank as well as any other domain and we told you.

I think it's often harder some places to rank with .infos everyone knows it's a spam extension. Although I haven't had any bad experiences with any TLDs.

That is not a correct assumtion. We have a client ranking very well for at least 5 competitive single words with a .info domain.

He said harder since some people will be reluctant to backlink to .info domains.

Icio.us is another popular .us domain

Anyways I don't see why a .us domain can't rank high in the SERP's,
search engines don't care about the TLD
The reason you don't see alot of .us domains high in SERP's is because people would rather invest money in the more popular TLD's which are .COM and .NET
also .us is a CCTLD for the United States and alot of people would like a user base outside of just the United States, not saying you can't have a user base outside the US with a .us domain just that a commercial domain would make users feel like they are in the right place

On a final note people would link to any EXT including .Info's as long as the content was worth linking to

Build links, and a .co.nz can be the same. TLD has nothing to do with SEO.
