Listing Rejection Ratio

Its tough question ...
You must be rejecting listings because they every listing doesn't fit to your standard of directory and acceptance criteria.

But question is what's the ratio of acceptance and rejection of total listing requests you get?

btw do you maintain these statistics?

Here by listings i mean 'paid' listings only.

 

I accept free reciprocal listings just for the hell of it. Since hardly anyone provides a decent backlink i reject 95% or more of them.

As for paid listings i hardly reject any.

 

when i had my directory i was rejecting around 70% of submissions due to spam etc.

 

Well, its hard to give you a "Ratio" but all I can say is, I do reject whenever I feel its the right step.

I don't have a lot listings at the moment (You know where most people look at before submitting ~ the little green bar)
So far, I have rejected more than 15 gambling/casino sites and around 5 based on content. (Thats a rough estimate)

And soon, few links that are currently listed are going to be removed. (Black Listed)

 

i get a very low number of link submission to my MySpace Links Directory but 50% of them are all Gambling and Casino's links submitted as FEATURED... I have strict guidelines for such and ever since i introduced them they were lessened but last month it started again so i deal with them as per my guidelines...

Link Rejection rate is 50% since fifty percent submitted to my dir are Gambling and Casino links!

For me 50% is Paid (Featured) Spam but i have to refund there amount from now on after keeping the Review fee of $5

 

Review fee is a nice idea or you can fine deliberate spammers full fee.

 

Well that is what some people in DP suggested me when i got sick of them, i started a thread and 20% suggested to keep the full amount, 30% suggested to refund all the money(since they said its unethical to keep the money and not list site besides paypal might have a problem too) and 50% said to keep a $5 Review fee. Although they stopped for a month or two but this month i am hit again! but who cares now

 

We just added a paid option to our directory, so I don't have stats for paid listings.

Ours is a niche directory focusing on indie music & arts.

Since opening in June 2006, we've rejected 77% of submitted sites (free listings), mostly because they are unrelated to our topic.

Seems many webmasters don't care that ours is a niche directory; they just submit their unrelated site to a random category & hope for the best. Many others just don't bother to read our submission guidelines, which are very straightforward.

Acceptance rate for sites following our submission guidelines is nearly 100%.

NO! simply because from what i invested in it, it gave me 400% times more than that but since i can't invest on its advertising( i have no Paypal) so i just don't have a steady income coming from it. Although other advertising on them pays me some at times!

good question... i would say NOW i accept 70% of submissions into the network as i dont get 10-20 per day in any one directory.
I strongly suggest that the bid directories look out for the clowns that submit $1 dollar crap sites as thats exactly what you get..

Just yesturday i was thinking i was having a good day as about every 5 minutes id see my email ping from someone submitting into www.bid-dir.com
when i went and checked some dk-head was submitting garbage blogs and to top it off for $1 buck each time he submitted 10 sites before i had time to find out what was going on.... then i deleted everyone and kept $5 bucks for the fees that paypal charges to send him his refunds.

When did PayPal start charging fees to send a refund?

 

For free dirs, I reject 60% as I get spammed more often. But for paid dirs, I hardly reject submissions.

 

aha.... you must be keeping all the change just kidden

they charge 33 cents per refund "i believe" and thats been at least a few weeks now.
so not only do you get slammed at the initial payment but also the refund.

Try again. You're not charged to process a refund.

If you refund a payment after the time limit to do so expires and you have to send a payment. the recipient is charged a fee.

 

well i guess the refund time limit is within 5 minutes as im sure as
hell getting hit with the refund fees

everytime i refund it says i did so then within a few seconds this lone little couple cents fees shows up...

Malcolm, PayPal has to credit your account for the fee it already withdrew when the transaction was accepted. Look at the gross amount. There is no fee to refund a payment. The amount matches the exact amount of the payment.

I think you might have just misinterpreted it.
