But in reality, prison is just a small city and while he is not "free" to do as he pleases, he also does not have to suffer in prison they way he should, so, kill him and be done with it.

See the problem is that prison is not hard, it's not tough enough, does it suck...yes, will you get raped? depends on who you know. Prison becomes a routine after awhile and they just get on. It's way to soft.

Just my humble opinion, not trying to start any arguments or anything, I just think that there are people in our society that deserve to die.

 

I understand that, and If they were killed by slowly pulling their intestines out of ther mouth or something (WFT?!?) then I'd *almost* agree...

But they don't die like that do they. They are given an injection, or electrocuted or some other lame ass thing like that...

Frankly, I would rather die than know I had to spend life in the nick.

Solitary confinement is pretty terrible. As are another number of punishments that can be used, but IMHO, death is a cop-out. It's an easy way out of living with your guilt.

(In the UK) if a *beast* gets sent down, they don't tend to have a good time. They would be someone's bitch, and would have a visit most nights from "Big Paulie" or something...

Let them rot and die in there - it's not like they are living... Just surviving.

While I understsand your points I guess we just have to agree to disagree. While it is quick, I still don't have to worry about them escaping and doing it again.

Personally I think they should go medieval style and Guillotine people in town square, but, thats just me I think that would put a dent in the crime rate.

It's not ours to judge about life and death, but if someone commits a crime as you mentioned we have the obligation to keep him away from the society, so that he can't do that anymore.

 

The death penalty is a deterrent. No it wouldn't bring your daugther back, but it would have decreased the odds that someone would have done such a terrible crime.

The US have the death penalty, yet also one of the highest rates of gun crime in the world...
Personally, I think it's a shit deterrant.

In the UK, we don't have the death penalty, but I would also say that the existing punishments we do make use of are adequate.

Also, people don't think before they commit the crime "Oh, I better not do this because I could get in trouble"... They just don't think about getting caught.

 

Is crime decreasing in the States because of capital punishment? - Guess not.
The same in China, Singapore or elsewhere.

 

We have completely different gun laws. Anyone can get a gun. The police don't even normally carry guns in the UK do they?

 

If people could actually see the people getting killed I think the death penalty would be gone by now

Have you ever seen videos of executions? If they ran that on TV I think it would be abolished pretty quick, the out cry would be huge.

Yep, seen it and would happily watch a child molestor or mass murderer done the exact same way. I don't think the outcry would be that huge, we are a society completely numb to death on TV.

I guess I'mn just tying to make the point that in the UK we don't have the death penalty, but crime rates aren't huge...

I think in the case of a child molestor or something like that, newspapers are the best ammunition.

Occationally you'll hear about a little girl going missing, then someone gets caught, and the papers follow the whole thing - frequently going into detail about the mob rule that you get in this kind of situation...

I don't think most people would dare do anything like that, simply because the concept of being ripped to shreads by a crowd of angry people would scare the shit out of anyone.

 

First step: abolish capital punishment
Second: people should become more sociable and observe each other in a loving and careing way.
