Why didn't Jagger2's results propagate?

Discussion in 'Google' started by Aok, Oct 31, 2005.

    From Matt's blog:

I read this to mean that after a few days the results we got from using 66.102.9.104 would become the same no matter what data center we used...?

I am worried because some of the results from Jagger2 were good for me compared to Jagger1, but they did NOT propagate.

    Anyone else seeing this?

Does anyone have any ideas on this? Did I intrepret Matt incorrectly?

He specifically stated that it would be a few days before the results started propogating to other datacenters, so I wouldn't be worried for another few days. He posted that on the 26th...

Yeah, I know what he said, I quoted it above. My point is that it has now been 5 days and I have not seen a change on any other dc's than 66.102.9.104 and one or two others only. And jagger3 is jsut around the corner.

I am wondering if we will even see the changes at all propagate to all dc's before jagger3 or not, and if there is any significance to it based on past updates that maybe I am missing.

These DCs appear to contain the new results:

    66.102.11.104
    66.102.9.104
    66.102.11.99
    66.102.9.99
    64.233.183.99
    64.233.183.104

They've been switching back and forth all weekend.

Only 64.233.183.99 & 64.233.183.104 are showing "New" results for me.

The datacenters below are showing wierd results.
    66.102.11.104
    66.102.9.104
    66.102.11.99
    66.102.9.99

If what I have been seeing is Jagger2 then Jagger2 has just been testing or an attempt to work out bugs.

My site has been from #13 to #763 to #26 to #508 in the span of 4 days! (on the 66.102.11.* and
    66.102.9.* Datacenters)

That hardly qualifies as some kind of "roll out" in my book.

Again, I think Google has been trying to work out bugs and only using a subset of websites to do so.

I'm seeing impact on the same data centers as Caryl. The changes are different between the first two dc's (jagger2) and the last 4. The last 4 show significant changes but not out of wack in my industry (a reshuffling of those on top)

The results did spread in the live SERPS i'm monitoring but it was just a reordering...my biggest competitor dropped to the second page so I'm happy about that, they're still #11 where I am #13 though. The one DC that reported me jumping a spot to #12 never came through.

Wow Caryl, those 4 you listed just now as showing weird results put a BIG smile on my face. I wonder if those will come through at all?? That's the first true reflection I've seen in 5 months of my constant link building, content writing and page optimizing. I love your tools too!

They are already using them on the Uk search as of this afternoon :( - if they stick then it will be a bleak Christmas for myself and loads of others.

Jez - are you using google.co.uk or just the DC you're being redirected to from google.com? When I was in the UK last year (I'm not anymore, oops have to update my location) i always used google.com but saw different results then in the US.

Roze, I am using .co.uk search and have been watching it propogate this afternoon. Strangely, I am getting differing results when using firefox browser to IE browser - the bad (for me) results are on the IE browser. All on the.co.uk search.

    Roze,

The point I was attempting to make was that there was nothing stable YET.

Although I have seen some promising results, they have jumped from the original 66.102.11.* and 66.102.9.* on Oct 27th to 64.233.183.99 & 64.233.183.104 today.

I have seen nothing to indicate that some sort of "update" was "rolled out" and then spread to other Datacenters.

I have recorded only erratic results.

I have reported this because many folks have seen no changes at all and seem to feel that Google will leave them behind.

Well, I really haven't gone anywhere either - so let just wait and see how much longer they will be tweeking.

Yes erratic is what I'm seeing too. I have a new issue to get up today but I'm too busy checking DC's, how fun.
