A Non-Keyword Link Any Good?

I know a specific anchor text keyword is the optimal way to have a link pointed to your website.

But if the anchor link to your site is not a specific keyword and in fact just a regular word, do you get much affect for serps anyway or not at all? Is it a waste?

    Thanks.

pick some top ranking sites, view their link counts in Yahoo site explorer, and you will see varied anchor text.

You want to simulate natural linking. It's natural to get links with anchor text of 'click here' or 'http://yoururl.com'. You want to get some of those. It's NOT natural to have all keyword-focused links. :)

excellent point carlito ... however an easy fix for this is to get a keyword-separated-domain-name.com. It might look a little funny but every link counts for the individual keywords instead of the big slur keywordseparateddomainname ... I guarantee you rank #1 for that as nobody else types it in.

Always select the keyword related to your site.
