How can I know that PR update was *finalized*?

While there is so much fuss about the beginning of the update, I actually want to look ahead and ask, how can one know for sure that the update was finalized for a certain site?

for instance, i keep track with my own sites so i can more or less see which were updated first and which still weren't. But, I want to buy a site around this time, even lets say 1-2 weeks from now, is there a way to check that the PR the domain is sold with is a result of the recent update? Is there any other way except the rank showing orange on digpagerank?

 

I think whenever you spot a 'change' in PR 'number' you can take it as 'final' for the current update.

The problem is, I monitor my own sites, but if someone else's domain was offered to me today, how can I know if it has already undergone though some changes or not? That's my point...

 

You can check it on most vibrant DCs and you will be able to spot the change. But if change is only kept in Google servers and yet not render to any DC then there is absolutely no way for you to know the change in PR.

Lorelei, you know only a small sampling of sites will show any changes whatsoever right now, right? The updates has started, but only for a few sites. You probably won't see any changes for the majority of sites until it propagates.

I have a somewhat related question about the update's end....

What about sites with redirects (like www to non-www; old URLs to new ones, etc)? Does Google deal with all of that in the one update, or does it update each separately still based on their links, and then have a delay in updating pagerank to account for those things? I ask because I've noticed with the prediction tools (yeah, I know they're supposedly worthless anyway), it calculates predicted pagerank for things that are now being redirected separately.

For example... I have a business blog. There's a category called "consulting." Before moving it to wordpress, I had those topics on subdomains, and they were re-directed in the Spring when I changed the backend of the site. But the tools show them as having separate pagerank still (including DigPagerank).

Do you have to wait again after the update for things to correct themselves, like when you first set up the redirect?

i think you can not understand the real finished time.

if you see the pr number on your toolbar, you can think the pr has fnisihed for you

 

If you wait another 2 weeks you will know that google update is finalized

It depends on when you did the change, whether it was before or after the snapshot date.

All of the changes were done between April and early June I think, so I don't think that's going to be an issue. But when I check the datacenters and such, the redirected URLs are still showing their own PR values. Wouldn't those become n/a or something like that? Or do they always have PR value... just not visible in the toolbar? I thought their backlinks were supposed to be directly figured into the main URL, and not still registering separately with a permanent redirect.

Of course SERPs is more important, but when someone is going to pay 1k for a PR6 site, it would be really frustrating to see it drops by the time the push is complete

Lorelei, it is a safe bet that Matt Cutts inner pages that are within the snapshot date will not be PR0 after the update has finalized... keep an eye on this page here:
