Can anyone recommend a good traffic analyser?

    Hi

I was just looking for some help, I have a quite large search engine marketing campaign which I am about to start and I have decided that now is probable a good time to invest in some kind of good reporting tool that could help me track the traffic that goes to my website so I can figure out ROI and how to spend the money.

Now presently the only thing I am really recording is amount of unique hits I am getting a month, but I want to get a lot more complicated. I really want to be able to track how people exactly get to the site, and then which of these people end up going to the contact us page. It would be great if the system is combined with some kind of campaign management system like adwatcher.

I’m not sure if something like this exists but it must be something that other people have a solution for. I could start to try and build something, but I don’t think I understand the field well enough to design something. So I am really looking for something that is already built.

Ay suggestions? What do you guys use?

Sawmill is the best log analyser I ever used. Lots of nice features. I think they have a demo version you can try.

Is the paid statcounter.com tools worth paying for?
I use the free service, Im still deciding whether the paid service would be worthwhile or not

The paid Statcounter service is simply more of the same: Same features, just bigger log sizes. I have a log of 10,000 which just about covers my page views for one day, so as long as I don't hang around, I can check visitors IPs against purchases to see who came from where and bought what.

I like Statcounter's simplicity and the fact that they always seem to be adding more features.

... I use hitslink.com; sounds like it'll do most, if not all of what you're after

Statcounter costs $9/month upgrading to 1000 pageloads and 10,000 pageloads are around $19/month, not bad. They are coming soon with Advanced Service which will offer Exit Link Tracking, Download Tracking, and Unlimited Log Size etc.

I'm using the StatCounter free service at the moment. I'm pretty happy with it as I pretty much get to analyze where traffic is coming from and how long they hang around.

The other benefit of the paid service is you don't have to link to them.

Personally, nothing beats a log analyzer

(I use Statcounter for one of my external shopping carts where logs don't help me)

Statcounter doesn't force you to link to the with their free version. They say they would "appreciate it", or something like that, but it's not required. At least that's the way it was last I looked.

Still, only 100 entries in the log isn't all that helpful.

our current company uses the following tools:
    - web position
    - amniture
    - google trends
    - yahoo overture selector tool

and other free tools on the web..we gather as much data as possible..and look at the number of url referals, search engine referals, how many pages indexed every month (to test for the visibility) etc.
