New Fake Pagerank Methods?

Discussion in 'Google' started by advantage, Aug 1, 2007.

  1. #1
I am a bit alarmed to notice that sites that fake pagerank tools used to expose as fake - are now passing as valid.

http://os2.osmirror.com/ for example used to flag as fake.

Have the pagerank fakers improved their kung fu? Are the fake page rank detection tools failing?

Anybody know about any recent developments in this arena?

Just out of curiosity ... why are you keeping tabs on a fake PR domain anyway?

It doesn't for me... shows 8s across the board

It's not saying it's fake, it's saying it can't be verified.... it's saying it's comparing the root to the subdomain which it shouldn't be doing.

the question is.. how do you know for sure it is fake. the pr spreads well... you mean they have faked that as well?

It still shows the number, but it's in red and that means it's a fake ;).

Says who? DigPageRank? What are they basing this on?

Look how the PR spreads throughout the site and to it's text link buyers. They all have fat PR. All of that is fake because DigPageRank gives it a red number?

Yes. I was saying according to their system. Green is good, orange is un-confirmed, and red is fake, so it doesn't mean anything if the numbers are still there. The numbers are supposed to show, even if they are fake.

I've tested it out and it seems like a very accurate system.

Okay nevermind.. now that I see the root domain is a mirror. The sub is fake, the root is real.

Wow something really fishy is going on there.

The PR spreads on the sub and not the root... So I'm not sure what is real and what isn't... doesn't make sense. I didn't see any of their link buyers under PR5 though...

Is this being done on purpose, or some unknown "bug" with it when mirror sites are used?

I cannot see your site as well, most of the time.
Is there any way to resolve that DNS issue? It is happening for me as well on a site that I transferred to a new host four months ago

1/2 ounce of common sense is all it takes to decipher fake PR.

    How?

Did you read my above post explaining and mentioning sites from where they have taken their PR?
