compared to a normal .com or .net. I know .edu and .gov are worth more but what about .org

In my experience links from .org sites are no different than links from a .com or .net. I have owned some .org's, purchased .org domains owned by link rich organizations and while they are very good links, I doubt if they carry any more value than normal TLD's.

I have heard some stuff in the industry about people talking about whether these links from .orgs are better or not. When it comes down to it, no. I think the confusion started because .org or those non-profit organizations often don't link out very often. So when you get a link on such a site, it can be quite powerful.

by worth more you mean cost more money so you can sell it at a higher price or worth more as in it will give you more traffic and better seo?

But in my opinion I don't see anything different between. .com .net or .org there all the same to me except i prefer .com

isn't .org supposed to be for non-profit sites? not sure exactly, but their may be some reasoning behind weighing .org more. either way, if it is then it isn't enough to be noticable I don't think.

I don't have any hard evidence, but I do know that for some keywords I chase, .org's seem overrepresented in the top search results. I've started using .org on some new domains because of this...and also because there's a better selection of available names.

Me either because .org's can be registered by anyone, including SEO's. Other extensions like .edu and .gov I would imagine do carry more weight.

Yes, there is no difference at all in getting links from an org site or com site.

All links whether it is edu, com or org , weigh same.

    It's all misled information.

Have there been tests or an official statement that show .edu and .gov's don't carry more weight?

Well, Google says themselves that links from adult sites etc should be considered "low trust" sites. So if that's true, the opposite should be true where .gov would be given more trust (assuming you consider the government more trustworthy than adult sites LOL). If there's any weight at all, it would only be domains that not just anybody could register, ie gov and possibly edu.

I think Google has also spoken about "authority sites" with .gov and .edu sites as examples. Since only government and educational instituions can register such sites, this makes a certain amount of sense.

On the other hand, anyone can get a .org site... so it doesn't carry any extra weight.
