not sure if this is a stupid question..but.. Im running a co.uk domain, obviously when a uk visitor hits the site, they get uk ads but when im only targeting U.S traffic, do i get U.S only ads, or becuase the server is .co.uk and ip of the uk, do i get uk still? i only ask this as when targeting a keyword that i know is $16 dollarsin the U.S and the uk its $1 when i taret the different areas i still get per click of .50 cents I would expect more from us traffic Could this be also due to when i got spidered? from where the visitor is when the page got spidered? hmmm... any ideas on this anyone thanks!!
I don't think that domain TLD has any effect on the ads. It more depends on the content of your websites and your visitors. For example, if a visitor from the United States come and see your website, and if s/he clicks on any ads, you may earn more, because the advertisers will pay for US visitors more (to sell their products and ...) That depends on the IP address of your visitors not your hosting server or domain TLD.
well thats extacly what i though, yet the us traffic is not paying out any more than uk traffic, even though the keywords are 15 dollars more in the us its got me a bit puzzled,
Google targets the person viewing the page. That US advertiser wouldn't want to be shown to anyone other that people in the US (I'd imagine) because he only does business there. To someone show his adverts to the rest of the world would be wasting his money. Having a .co.uk domain doesn't matter a jot. For the one .co.uk site I run the US traffic far outweighs the UK traffic there. (In fact, dutch traffic outweighs the UK traffic too).
How are you determining what the keyword is worth in the US? Just because you see them listed in a "high-paying keywords" list doesn't mean you'll actually get that kind of a payment. See High-paying keywords are not enough for some of the reasons, and see the recent discussion about smart pricing for more info.
