I've just launced a new shopping site and need some advise on search engine optimization and back linking. The site is a dynamic site so I've done my best to make it search engine friendly by implementing meta tags and url rewriting. So I think the site is as technically search engine friendly as I can make it. Page Content I understand that modern search engines anyalses page content as well as meta data. Can someone explain what % a keyword should appear on a page and does anyone know of a tool that can measure this? Back Linking I'm also aware that a site and page is ranked on importance based on incoming links. This is where things get confusing as I'm not what links count and what links don't? Also how do I get these links? Any help would be appreciated.
What is the URL ? I think 5-10% is the keyword density. ( though I'm not sure ) Links can be obtained by my "DS" service.
Links can be obtained from - . Having great content that other webmasters link to naturally . Link exchanges with other sites . Submitting your site to free directories . Paying for listings in paid directories . Links on other websites that you pay for . Submitting articles you have written to the appropriate sites. . Adding your url to your forum signature . Including your url in a press release . Membership of an ad sharing network and, probably, several other ways that other members will add I'm sure.
I would even expand on that to say creating a great, fun or just plain useful tool will sometimes generate a large number of natural links with little or no work. Article Submission is of course a favourite of mine.
My URL is www.gadget-and-gizmos.co.uk Also what is all this blog and ping business....well i know what a blog is. but why is adding the your blog to yahoo so important. And how do you ping?
www.pingomatic.com. I read a thread here a while ago regarding starting a blog and including links to your site to help with indexing. I did so and within days the entire site was indexed by Google, however Yahoo seems oblivious to this now. Definitely a great way to get it going and create back links. Ian

As for me, the user traffic divides into 3 main parts: - search engines - inbound links - constant users Each of these parts should be optimized. If talking only about search engine traffic, then it seems to be the simpliest part. Just do some SEO and use some web site analyzer. I personally use Internet Business Promoter (IBP8) - I like their 30-pages SEO reports. But, as I understand, there is a plenty of such software on the market.
KW density is bogus. The SEs are much more complex and take context and several other factors into account. A certain % does not equal success.
R u sure the KW density is bogus?? because I've found different site that come top rank who have a very high KW density
Positive. The SEs are much more sophisticated than just counteing the number of appearances. Look up "term weight".
If we were back in 1999 then it would be a big factor but come on dude.... do some reading and think about it.
