Recommend me an affiliate program for site aimed at teenage girls

Hi there,

One of my websites gets a fair share of traffic but hardly any clicks on my Google Ad's. I've come to the conclusion that most of my visitors aren't that interested in the adverts that Google show.

Could anyone recommend a decent affiliate program which will hopefully catch the interest of a teenage girl? Perhaps mobile phone ringtones or something?

(PS - is it against Google TOS to place a google image advert next to one of your own images?

 

If I remember correctly there has to be some sort of space or border between the two. I'd double check the TOS before doing anything If I were you.

 

You must have a border separating the image and the google ad.

 

Have you ever tried skin care and weight loss products?

There are quite a lot affiliate networks have offers like these.

 

Haven't really thought of this, to be honest weight-loss products just sound a bit scammy...I realise that a lot of teenage girls probably wish they were thinner but I doubt many of them would bother using a credit card to purchase something like that over the Internet.

I was thinking of something a bit more fun - maybe ringtones or something, but I'm still not so sure...

 

Why don't you create a poll or survey to ask your visitors what they are interested in?

Linkshare has a merchant called Delias. They sell clothing aimed at teenage girls. You may want to check that out.

 

I'm not sure really - I would prefer an advertising that pays per click (like Google adverts) but with some sort of content which would interest girls.

The best thing to do would be to experiment with different programs and find the one that works best for your site. I'm sure there's multiple affiliate programs out there for your subject. I assume the site you're referring to is the one with the soccer(football) player. In that case your problem is that your visitors are staring at the pictures and not much else. Try adding more text info such as a biography and gossip about the guy. That way your visitors are reading stuff which makes them more likely to read your ads.

You could try looking into advertising a dating site. Most of those have image ads and would probably fit well into the theme of your site.

 

Yeah but I just don't think many girls would be that interested in a dating site, think its more of a guy thing

I would prefer to use an advertising program which pays per click, and doesn't rely on a sale....

Im having a similar problem on my teen site with google ads, a lot of visitors but little clicks.

You could try CJ.com, they have many different affiliate programs (ringtones, screensavers, free gifts, health stuff etc), ive had no luck with them but maybe you can?

the thing about dating sites etc, most requires some sort of payment, most teens dont have the means to buy things online (unless their parents have a paypal account or credit card which they are allowed to use)

not really sure how it's done, but why dont' you make a number of copies of your website. Put a couple of different affliate programs on them, and have it interchange which page is delievered every 5 or so visitors, or like every visitor. I don't know how this is done, but i know it's been done before. If you want to experiment, and don't just want to lose time, this would probably be the best option for you.

So far I have tried hip-hop ringtone adverts, and have also tried free wallpaper advertising programs. I didn't get any clicks at all from these

Google manages at least a few clicks, but it's barely worth having the website for. I can easily get 200 unique visitors a day, but none of them seem to be interested in the adverts.

Don't suppose anyone else has any kind of ideas?
