    But i want to ask what is that "recent update"?

    Google made a somewhat major update to their algorithm which can cause a huge jump or drop in where your websites ranks in Google searches.

    I don't consider myself an expert, but I'd suggest that it was somekind of update to the google algo.
    If you mean 'What did it actually do' ? It's believed that it is being rolled out in 3 or more stages, so we think we've seen stage 1. Until all stages are comlete it's impossible to tell exactly what it did.

    Nope PR doesnt effect SERP

    Look in this way. many people think that only a good quality site, which is having a handful amount of backlinks gets a higher PR value.
    So they look for such sites.
    if a new site, with PR0 but whose Webmaster is constantly building Good backlinks, working hard on the content, most likely it will get a PR of 5-6 soon often.

    So realy PR doesnt matter

    Ok. Got the point.

    Actually I was amazed when I say a PR2 for my yahoo group. I never tried to build any links to it.

    I found around 15 links to it.

    2 from DP ...from Alexa ranking thread (I mentioned my group).

    1 from Yahoo groups directory.

    12 or so from other groups, to which the messages from my group were forwarded.
